So are the new transistor radios in your specimen worth the purchase? I have a solar crank type I keep in the station studio that's analog I use to see if I'm properly on the air.
I didn't buy any radios shown on this page, I was just showing examples of present day radioscwoth leather sleeves.
I have however recently bought a couple new AM/FM/SW handheld radios from Temu for $5 each and a larger tabletop one for $14 on Amazon... I guess I own about 5 or 6 AM radios - all of which cost under $20 new --- I dont have any good radios, but these el-cheapos serve my purpose just fine.

I've been using it everyday while kayaking the back river and it works great, doesnt seem to drift or anything, what I like most about it is that its usb rechargable.
I use the larger much better sounding $14 one from Amazon at home (it's also shown in the link above) it's a AM/FM/SW/Bluetooth speaker and it both sounds and performs great! Expecially considering it was under $15, it also sports a rechargable battery
Oh... I see the $5.99 radio was Ali Express not Temu, I've purchase numerous things from both over the years. but Temu probally has it too.
