All I know the free version can still be downloaded from the website. There is the download site for the free trial of the studio 2.2 version. Try that. See if downloads. I think still exists as when going to Zararadio it says 100s of downloads recently and has been updated January of 2024.

Take a look at Salamandra which has the similar layout as Zara. I and others here use that one.

We already use the free version and plan to upgrade to the latest zarastudio version to get new needed features. And what I understand the migration will be more easy bu  continue  with zara compared with change to e.g Salamandra

Change over is not much. Salamandra uses the same .rot .seq , .m3u .pls , .lst & Time files. But you will have to redo your event files. Download it and have a play.

What are the extra features that you need in the payware Zara?

As others have stated, the migration to Salamandra is pretty straight forward, other than redoing your event files.  And even they are a superset of Zara's.

But if you require features in pay Zara that are not in Salamandra, then the suggestion is moot.  A lot of us here use Salamanda, so we can let you know.

I always prefer free to paying for something.

It looks to me like the big plus for Zara Studio is the voice tracking features.

Voice tracking can be implemented in Salamandra (or even the free version of Zara), but it takes a little bit of work.  I've implemented a simple version of it on both systems.

Other than that, the other big thing would be stability, as the free version of Zara can be problematic at times.  I do know that Salamandra is very stable, and one of the reasons I migrated to it.

It appears they're still active, on the front page they just announced on October 15 "New ZaraStudio 4 now available"

Have you actually paid for it already?

@digiloo This from AI(Google).....

  • Using Wine: ZaraRadio can be run on Linux by installing and using Wine, a compatibility layer that allows Windows applications to run on Linux.

@richpowers I wasn't aware of that.  I thought he was using Windows in his production environment.

If he is indeed using Linux, then that's a pretty good endorsement of Wine and Salamandra.

Just as a caveat, though, I generally try to stay away from compatibility programs and layers.  They introduce complexity and potential issues over and above the normal ones when running any particular software.

I've never used Wine, but I know in Windows there are all sorts of issues with access to hardware and the like.  That was from my attempt to get the Linux-based OpenWebRX+ running under Windows.  I ended up just setting up a Linux box and running it there.  Your experience going the other way may differ, of course.

@artisan-radio I thought he had mentioned it over here too, maybe not but he has recently brought the topic up here: https://mbcf.boards.net/thread/3166/zararadio-salamandra-on-linux
