I AM BAAACK!!!!
I have returned to broadcast again, soon.
Will post more later when time permits.
I miss broadcasting
I truly miss having a signal on the air at 1620 AM, now that we are on the last week of March the pressure is on to get this house packed up and ready to move out of Salems lot.*
How the hell did we accumulate so much un needed clutter? Holy smokes! Ok Barry, take it one room at a time, one box at a time, just take it sl— SCREW IT !! BURN IT ALL IN THE YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
As much as I love a good bon fire, i really can’t afford to start over. I got this, i just need everyone to chip in and help out, no fuss, no mess ,uh yeah okay so there will be a mess but we can clean that up when we are done packing stuff.
Did i mention I miss broadcasting? I do.
* Salems Lot, in case you missed the reference, is from Eminem’s hit Lose Yourself in which he was referencing a book by writer Steven King where vampires take over a town and turn that eventually is destroyed to combat the evil.
As one fan said, it refers to Eminems struggle to get out of a soul sucking situation (his home life growing up).
This town would be a great place for Steven King to research and write a book about, maybe even adapted for a movie.
After I move, maybe I will go into more details about what a sesspool this town really is, until then Happy Broadcasting.
Saying Goodbye to Social Media
Today, just one day after Donald Trump was sworn in as president of the United States, i made a conscience effort to free myself from the spell I have been under for so many years.
What spell you ask? The social media giant called Facebook. That mind altering propaganda machine that millions of sheeple just cannot live without ever single day. Why? Why not? It took a presidency like Trumps for me to realize that I really don’t need a network like social media to be social.
Sure it’s convienent, it connects thousands of people worldwide in one central place over the internet where you can instantly share your thoughts, hopes dreams and rants with everyone. The only trouble is, what you read on that site isn’t always what it seems.
I mean lets face it, not everything you read or see on the internet as a whole is the gospel truth, just because i post a video of a conspiracy theory doesn’t necessarily make it so. Posting things online doesn’t necessarily make us experts in a particular subject. I could post a video with a two page downloadable .pdf hypothesis on the beginnings of the Illuminati and swear i know what i am talking about, it still doesn’t change a thing. It doesn’t make me an expert on that subject, although there will be some gullable folks out there that will comment and read the pdf, view the video and take my word as the undeniable truth that some secret society has complete control over the destiny of humanity. Maybe my words and presentation might even cause some folks to run to the hills and seek refuge from an entity that doesn’t even exist.
I can’t in good faith, post something like that and sleep well at night knowing i may have sentenced some people to a lifetime of foraging for food while they live in fear that the next human they see is the men in black who have come for their first born and blah blah blah.
This is exactly the kind of crap that is shared on social media, just because it is in print doesn’t make it so, some in depth research needs to take place (i would hope) before someone, anyone takes that information as the holy grail.
There is just too many sides presented in a dark manner on the internet lately and it can’t be healthy for humans from a mental standpoint. What is the best way to control large numbers of people? Repeat the same message over and over again until you have millions believing that is the right way to live. Trouble is, you have this group and that group both believe their way is the right way to live. A country devided, can never stand on it’s own two feet.
Look at the riots, protests and all of the unrest in America now. It’s sickening what our country has become and i firmly believe social media is to blame. Maybe i am taking this too far, maybe not. But there is no mandate or law that says we as Americans have to take part in social media. it’s an option we have. Take it or leave it.
As an owner of a hobby broadcast station, i do see how Facebook or Google Plus could be beneficial for the station, how else can you get people interested in listening to your station? Well, do what we all did before Facebook or the internet for that matter. Advertise, word of mouth, bumper stickers, SWAG etc.
I read an article the other day where psychologist said after extensive research they concluded that Facebook is toxic, it can be mind altering and i see where these doctors are coming from. Some folks just can’t stay away from it, i even found myself attached to FB like it was a drug lately.
Not anymore. I closed my account today after seeing people supporting this side and others trashing that side, see it has succeded in destroying the very fabric of our being. I can’t and will not take part in the destruction of our great country or of humanity for that matter. If anyone needs to talk to me that badly, they can always email me or if they are lucky enough to have my phone number then that’s a great way to get in touch with me.
I just feel better knowing that i will not be pulled into that mess once again. Take that Mr. Zuckerburg.
The chains are broken and for now i am free.
It’s A Soggy Day &
It’s a soggy day here and what is thats smell?
This morning as we were getting the kids ready for school this familiar odor fills the studio of Blue Bucket Radio 1620.
That familiar smell was hot wiring and quite strong around the HP Pavilion PC i use to automate the programming for the station, i began to worry and almost in a panic, which is rare for me but considering what kind of year 2016 has been for us here i had a good reason to be concerned.
As time for the bus to arrive drew closer Stephanie and I continued to try to seek out the cause of the burning smell and get the girls on the bus in time. I shut down the pc, my laptop, transmitters and mixing board. Still the smell lingered and seemed to get stronger towards the back of the desk between the pc and the monitor.
A quick run outside to check for smoke, just in case it was something in the house wiring and got the girls on the bus.
My youngest daughter, Lily needs hugs from Daddy before she goes to school in the mornings and i have to honor that request because they don’t stay little for long.
As the girls got on the bus i ran back in to the studio and the stench was just as strong, this time i turned off the monitor which was in stand-by, as i did this i got to wondering about the monitor, was that the cause of the strong burning wires smell?
I quicky unplugged the monitor, tipped it forward and sniffed the back of it, UGH! yeah, there’s the culprit!
We had been having trouble with the brightness control and the monitor would some times go black but recover after i use a command to revive it.
I wisked it outside in case that thing decided to burst into flames and the air cleared up eventually in the studio.
So now BBR is off the air until i can figure out how to either barrow another monitor or temporarily use one of the TV’s in the house to retrieve files from the HP PC and transfer them onto the laptop i am using to write this blog.
It’s a slow Acer Aspire One netbook, but for running the station , it should work alright.
Like i said, it’s been one of those years.

Wait for the smoke to clear
It’s been dry here in Eastern Ky, too dry actually. We are in a drought right now and Governor Matt Bevin has declared a state of emergency for most of the Kentucky. Currently over 150 acres combined in several counties have burned and forestry officials suspect this is arsen.
In my area (Perry County) there had been a fire set in the forest but was contained and is no longer a threat at this time, surrounding counties such as Harland, Pike and Brethitt counties fires continue to burn while both ground crews and air support try to battle the blazes. A good chunk of this is in the Daniel Boone National Forest, I currently live in a section of that forest called Red Bird and i am keeping an eye on things as best i can.
Last thing we need is a fire to break out in this valley with things as dry as they are, my hats off to the men and women who have to risk their safety to protect wildlife, our properties and our lives.
As of this this evening, we have not had any trouble with visibility on the road ways but that could change at any time.
Who ever it is setting these fires, i certainly hope you wake up and smell the prison time you’re going to serve when you get caught.
