I'm in the process of setting up Salmandra automation on a new computer. I'm impressed with it so far. I will be tackling the install of the Rangemaster transmitter soon. I Hope to have them both on the air in 2-3 weeks.
@ Roy Hello. Just stopping by to let you know that I am watching for further progress with what you're doing.
Salmandra interests me because I would like to install it to replace Zara.
And I have always been interested in the Rangemaster 1000 and dream about having one.
Today, I installed The Rangemaster transmitter. There's no noticeable difference in coverage area compared to the Procaster I have been using for over a year. However there is a notable difference in the audio. There is less low end bass. And I haven't been able to get the audio level to come up to the level the Procaster has. So not much punch in the audio. I'm going to be working on it over the next few days this week and hopefully improve that.
Last waiting on a couple things I need to get the new computer and automation up which also to happen this week.
@ Roy Thank you very much, Roy, for the report. As I think I mentioned I am keeping an eye on the Rangemaster 1000 as I very much wonder how it compares with other part 15 transmitters. Right now I am going to look at some reviews of the two transmitters done in the past to see how they compare with your findings at the present time.
I got the audio issue corrected today. Audio and range basically exactly what the Procaster was like. No notable difference I've noticed yet. Hopefully I'll get the computer and automation switched over this evening or tomorrow.
Well sadly, I hit a roadblock in getting the new computer and automation this week. The computer has no audio output from the jack. Just the little tiny sound from inside the desktop. Doesn't even have a microphone input showing up. But it has a sound card. I guess it's dead. Went through all the help stuff diagnostics etc. Not resolvable. Guess I'm buying sound card at some point.
@wefr Is the Computer brand new? Is it Windows 11?
If so, and it may be that a desk top is the same as a laptop(not sure)
There's a trick to getting audio from the headphone out with an automated program like Salamandra or Zara etc. You have to exit the program. Plug in the audio jack first. Then restart Zara, Salamandra, Play it Live, what have you, then audio will be directed to an external source. If you have Zara/Salamandra running and then plug in the audio jack sound will still be through computer speakers. Also the playlist may go haywire and not stop at a track. It's not like it used to be. I use windows 10 and it does this too, seems with newer computers within the last couple of years.
Also make sure in settings you have it set to headphones for an external device. This is only a glitch when the app(Zara or others) is accessing your sound card. Not with simple headphones with audio from a Youtube video for example.
Also before you write it off, clean the audio jack and the audio output receptacle on the computer with 99% alcohol and/or try another cable.
It's windows 11 yes it's new. I haven't tried that. I will investigate it again just to make sure.
