the 1630 freq module for the Rangemaster transmitter came today. I will be installing that when the rain breaks to do so, to see if it will give me a little better field and get back near the coverage I had on 1700. Will report back on the results.
Where'd you get it?
I bought it from Progressive Concepts, shortly after I bought the Procaster from them. Progressive Concepts is a broadcast equipment supply company out of Illinois. They are mainly geared towards the low power broadcasters. Licensed and part 15 unlicensed.
I also have the 3 that came with it when I bought it new 1610, 1620 plus 1700 which I needed at the time and now 1630.
@richpowers Yep. I've been dealing with them since back in the 90s for various broadcast needs. it's not actually called crystals anymore, modules is what they're referred to now. But I still say module/crystal just to be clear.

Ahh.. but they aren't the same thing are they? I mean it's not actually a crystal right?
To me it's one and the same. Crystal is for a specific freq same as module in this case. It has prongs on it like a crystal. I guess crystal is to old school now. lol
Why not get the frequency agile module, as overall it would be a lot cheaper. Do they not sell them any more? When I had mine, a fairly long time ago, I purchased used and it came with it. There were no issues with frequency stability.
@artisan-radio I don't think they're available anymore. It's not listed on range master website. I had the one option when I got mine a little over a year ago.
@artisan-radio Yeah there only $22, but I have the older model Rangemasters which requires the adapter to use those modules which is $149.99

@wefr The Rangemaster site has been in disarray for a while now.. but as you just pointed out they are listed at Progressive, that's where I got that info and prices.. https://progressive-concepts.com/product/rangemaster-am1000-part-15-am-transmitter/?srsltid=AfmBOoqZlzUPXoJtORz8dU3lYK9oN6odrIYqkBAWHE2SFAfUM7bby2Ab
You know what surprises me is the Rangemasters audio interface is $99. I usually didn't have to use it, it's a small board of circuitry wrapped in a kind of intertube material, that's it! I still have it and will be requiring it this upcoming installation, but I never would have guessed this little board would be 100 bucks - I would have guessed like maybe $20.
@richpowers yeah I know. Mine didn't come with any enclosure of any kind. Just dropped in to the envelope with the Manual and cd that comes with the transmitter. I had to get a enclosure for it. Don't quote me on this but I recall reading somewhere you actually don't need that interface if you have a balance audio line. I don't recall right off hand where I read that. Just wire it directly to transmitter is what it said.
@wefr Your right, that's why I rarely used it, I bypassed it in the studio with a balanced chain of gear. But soon will be setting up studio in the boat and probably feeding audio directly from a mini-PC- So yeah, I'll need that little interface now.
But I still wonder if the $99 price tag for one of these is justified.
You dont really need an enclosed, its installed inside no?
