Hi everyone
I could not get my screen to stop jumpping around to edit my last post. Anyways I need to know which CB antenna works best with the
Rangemaster transmitter????

I mention the 8ft steel whip and the 8ft Fiberglass whip.
I am not sure which one the engineer who designed the transmitter
had in mind to use with his transmitter.

I know he had to do testing when he was trying to design the
Rangemaster to get the best results.
In this case I want the best results and I really want the best
AM radio station I can set up without having to go through the internet. Again

Both have advantage. The metal whip has a little more bandwidth, being it's a thicker conductor. The fiberglass whip stand up to the wind better and wouldn't change the tuning as much during windy conditions..

Neither whip is anywhere close to resonance so bandwidth isn't much of an issue. I'd vote fiberglass..

I used both and didn't see much difference between the two.  The fibreglass antenna is a bit more 'stealthy', as they generally are white and don't reflect the sun as much.

You might get 2 miles range with a Rangemaster if you overmodulate, use an Inovonics 222 or equivalent, and are transmitting over level, open fields (to a sensitive car radio) - my TS-100 got about 1 1/2 miles in those conditions.  In other words, not likely in the general case.  I got 1 mile into a semi-built up area (wood frame houses), and while the signal was listenable (at least to me), it still had a lot of static and noise.

I would think that any antenna moving in the wind would produce signal disturbances owing to capacitive and other changes, and that a solid copper antenna that did not flap around would produce the most stable signal.

We had a wind event here an hour ago that would take out many antennas, a very sudden squall line consisting of intense wind, a burst of rain and exceptionally sharp lightning. All this only lasted about a minute, but the power went off and my station was down.

Luckily the power came back in about 3-minutes, but I waited an extra half-hour before returning to the air. Since then a 40-mph wind has been blowing almost continuously.

I would think that transmitters that are built to similar specs are probably very much the same. I think the exception to this is the AMT5000 from sstran.com, possibly the only transmitter built to its high efficiency.

When it comes to emergency broadcasting, the FCC isn't probably going to bing you for over powering your signal.

Been a long time, but there are provisions for emergency broadcasting and exceptions.   Believe me, a tornado or similar on a tear, if the FCC came later people would be pissed and should be.

If you want to be sort of legal, then you are going to need multiple transmitters and way of delivering signal to the remote locations for rebroadcast.

To accomplish this is a ton of variables.  You need a good topography map and to identify broadcast retransmission locations that are in line of sight of others.   Push the signal out as data and bundle a small computer/Barix device + transmitter + wireless receiver/transceiver at each location.

People have lots to say good about the Hamilton Rangemaster.   Top performing gear, but no where near enough power to do what you want in a single transmitter or even dual.

The wind resistance of a CB whip is negligable.  When you see one bent over it is generally on a vehicle doing 60 MPH. ๐Ÿ™‚
