I'm sort of in the middle of a transition for my show, we're retooling for a potential migration to public radio, with more "extra" content on my podcast feed.    I've got a bit of push from listeners and some of my guests to relax the language rules for content that doesn't go on the air.    I've been hesitant to do so for a number of reasons, but I'm beginning to see some semblence of logic.

So some weeks, I produce two copies of the show.   On weeks with extra content I produce one file that runs for an arbitrary length of time and less of a restriction on language, and another one for radio stations that is always less than 56 minutes (leaving time for TOTH) and is completely broadcast safe.

I was thinking about it this evening about part15 and automation.  For shows with a podcast feed, do part15 broadcasters automate new eps from the feed, or is that the sort of thing most people do by hand?    Would a "radio safe" RSS feed be useful, or would it just make more sense to say "check for a radio-safe version like *this*?"

WaxyMouthfeel there are no distribution standards followed by all part 15ers. In fact, I venture to estimate that most part 15 stations ignore spoken programs and are music concentrates,

Of programs with spoken content, some practices are based on capabilities of particular software, others on the computer skills of operators.

Most part 15ers adopt the same FCC content standards as licensed stations even though no content restrictions whatsoever exist for part 15.

I personally would ignore an audience call for more "adult" language, as that seems more like a personal problem for them as maybe their emotions are still in the 5th grade.

Guests are another matter. Good guests have the floor, where I'm concerned, and it's desirable to have them feel "at home."

Some of the programs carried on my station have undeleted expletives but are overall excellent and given a pass.

A few shows have been rejected based on excessive vulgarity and lack of perceivable value.

Speaking to you personally, WaxyMouthfeel, your shows are top drawer and will be given a green light escort on KDX.
