Ray Soucie KE0DNQ. The address on his ham license is a PO Box in Peyton, CO. He says he was running 1/10 of a watt, then turned the power up for a brief while and received a notice from the FCC. At first, I thought this was on the AM band, but now I'm thinking he was using a cheap non-certified FM transmitter and he's confused about the power limits. It's a little hard to figure out; he's being a bit vague. I wonder what transmitter he was using, that he was able to turn the power up? Sure would be nice to have a little more information. He says he is getting a Part 15 transmitter that is registered to him. I have never heard of a Part 15 transmitter that is registered to a specific owner/operator. I'd like to know more. In other words - what exactly is he talking about? 😀
He seems a little goofy. He says his new transmitter is being delivered to him in Walsenburg, which is about 100 miles south of Peyton.
Interesting that he was talking about "daisy-chaining" multiple transmitters. I wonder if he'll be synchronizing the carriers?

I worked for an oldies station in Reno in the late 80's @richpowers, and Ooh Child was on our playlist, so I remember that song pretty well. I probably wouldn't have been as familiar with it had it not been for that fun gig.
I rarely listen to commercial radio these days, but I understand that oldies type formats are now playing songs from the 90's and even the early 2000's. I guess that makes sense because, at the oldies station in 1989, our newest songs were from 1971 (CCR springs to mind). That was only 18 years earlier.
It's because advertisers dictate commercial radio programming and as time goes on the "oldies" get younger as if you are over 55 radio doesn't care about you. When radio left me behind I got into this hobby to do it myself and keep the baby boom era on the radio.
Also radio has tunnel vision. With only playlists of a few hundred songs and nothing off the beaten path there's so much you will never hear on radio.

Ahh.. Checked in on our mystery station today, great music still playing, and noted a change on the "About us" info, and I immediately recognized the logo as one of our own members...
