Today is Veterans Day in the U.S., celebrating the men and women who have survived military service and come home to live out their lives. It makes for a 3-day holiday weekend at least for federal workers and offices, while the private sector has the option of keeping regular business hours.
I watched the start of the large New York City Veterans Day Parade streaming live and spotted the WABC AM770 booth along the parade route, their slogan 'The Talk of New York'.
The portion I saw was loud with about a mile of motorcycles, police and emergency vehicles sounding their sirens, but a very nice delight was the Police Band with a large battery of acoustic instruments.
A local radio personality used to sponsor an annual parade, and it's an idea for all part 15 stations as a way of getting known. You could have a four block pet parade with station banners. Let me know how it goes.
Homage to Veterans.
All day today KDX is airing U.S. military music (found on the Internet Archive) following each regular program.
Throughout the year KDX carries many talk programs regarding veterans who return to joblessness, homelessness, some are handicapped and depend on the Veteran's Hospital System for treatment.
@carl-blare Almost immediately after reading your post, I get an alert from Tubi with "A Salute To Our Veterans" (Tubi is a 100% free stream of movies and tv). Naturally I clicked it knowing full well it was going to feature veteran themed movies. This isnt even all of them.
I have no idea what I'm going to watch. Below shows from my scrolling on my phone, but I watch it on a 28" Roku TV.. but since that uses my phones wireless hotspot up to fast I bought a cable the phone and tv directly, which means no hotspot used and all I'm using is the unlimited data on my phone.
I have no idea why I've just told you all that, but I've already did, so.. Well, join me to watch some free patriotic movies!
