Found interesting a lot of the books. Was reading a few of them. Compare those times to now. Homes had those floor standing radios and you called service people who did house calls, just like TV later. Most of the time for tube replacements. Now, no such thing. that whole industry of servicing things is gone. Now it lasts so long and then you get another.

@mark Back then those doing house calls and hustling to sell, service and modify radio equipment were known as "Jobbers". There's some interesting articles about them found in 1930s-40s magazines.
