During time away from radio listening I watch free movies on YouTube, having missed most of the movies released over the past 6 decades because of unwillingness to pay the admission fee.
Yesterday I chanced upon a 1970 movie named WUSA about a fictitious New Orleans radio station with a patriotic format and a political agenda. It is a deeply serious reflection of ugly truths that applied then (1970) and very much now (2018).
This film is as revealing about radio as the movie NETWORK is about television.

In previous posts I have proposed merging the low power radio hobby with model railroading. It is a natural.
The little model city could have one or more radio towers painted red and black above the table and painted black underneath the table to achieve the full ten feet. The train layout would provide freight and passenger service plus two radio signals receivable on the AM dial.
Alright, I had to say that to maintain the "radio connection" as required by management, and we're now talking about two hobbies and related motion pictures.
Found a fabulous train movie on YouTube named "Night Train", a horror flick. There's even a scene or two in which the train conductor tries to radio an emergency situation to the operation center.
