Anyone using AM transmitters indoors as I am and finding your radio audio overloaded(distorted and breaking up) when listening to your station in the same room as your transmitter, here's a fix.

Usually newer DSP radios don't have this problem but some, not all, others may have this problem.

For the technically inclined....usually the AGC that controls this can't handle the excessively strong signal from your transmitter so there is an overload condition. Since on most radios the AGC acts on the IF section detuning one of the IF transformers so it's not quite peaked for maximum solves this. If that doesn't work...

If the AGC works in the RF or converter stages locate the fine wire from the ferrite rod coil that connects to the antenna terminal of the tuning capacitor and a resistor installed inline with the tuning capacitor that can be switched in and out as a kind if RF attenuation switch mounted somewhere on the radio will solve the overload.

On old tube radios this is easy as a loop is attached to the back cover with two leads...one to chassis ground and the other to the tuning capacitor which is an open air one. Easy to just put a resistor inline with the tuning capacitor and switch it in and out for distant/local operation.

I am using the Procaster and with it working as good as can be with the artificial ground I constructed inside the cabinet I have this problem with signal being too strong when in the same room or in the house.

Hope this helps.
