I would like to thank each and everyone of you for allowing me to join the group.  I happen to be addicted to AM broadcasting as well as FM. At the moment I run a LPB am 25 as well as a ISS information station transmitter.(The Traffic Information Stations where you see a sign that says tune radio to whatever freq. for information on the side of highways) Both of them are running legally at a little less than 100 mills with proper length antennas and grounds .I have a  years of experience with LPB units as well as I.S.S. I'm pretty much looking for other peoples input on which they prefer ,tube modulation or pulse width modulation. I happen to be a tube fan . I just wanted to see whos into tubes versus solid state.

Thank you again , Tim

Hi Tim!

I have an LPB AM-6, which I have always enjoyed.

It uses 3 6AL11 compactrons.

It is broken now, and acts very strangely.

Still - it is a prized piece of gear.  I have other vacuum tube gear here.

I'll be back.

Hey Bruce , I wish I would have joined the group sooner . I just gave one away . They're quite easy to fix though. I still have the original built in carrier current system (not the carrier current box) but the two mallory caps that went to the netural and ground. I do happen to have a nice LPB am 20  ,gotta love the tibe units

Hi Tim!

Great to hear from you!

My experiences in the carrier current world are sort of upside-down and backwards, but nonetheless interesting.

I will be feeding you bits and pieces here as best as I can.

I did have a functioning carrier current system in my neighborhood back 8 or 10 years ago.  I was proud of it because it worked, but it was really cobbled together.

Just bear with me and I will come back and tell you all the things I remember about it.

Very Best Wishes

Hi Tim!

So I already wrote a fairly long reply for this thread on Tuesday - which I unwittingly blew away!

Oh my.

Maybe if I just post some facts that will help.  At least it will get the ball rolling!

So my carrier current operation was on the unlikely frequency of 1020 kHz!

I built the coupler myself.

I will tell you more, but for the moment I'm just going to hit the "send" key and hope I didn't mess up a second time..

Very Best Wishes

Brooce, Hartford, CT
