- I started to post this in the antenna section, but its probally more appropriate to post here. The recent story in Radio World: Skirt Antenna Helps Reimagine AM Radio in SoCal

"..Smoothing the sound is an Angry Audio Chameleon, which Homburger likens to a modern Compeller: “It brings up the average modulation without sounding overly taxing...”
I used to use a Compellor/Dominator combo so I was familiar with its effectiveness. So thinking maybe the Angry Audio Chameleon might be a budget proccessor I checked and see they cost about $1,000 - so nevermind, however they also sell the software version of it that you run on your computer is in the $300 range (as I've said before; all hardware processing units today are software driven and perform essentially identical when running its software on a standard pc)
As for the improvised skirt antenna the station had to develop:
...He said the skirt antenna has provided better bandwidth. With a broadband AM receiver, he said, fidelity is analogous to that of an FM signal.
