I really had no idea on the story of Heathkit, but this well researched video tells the story. Apparently this guy had forgot about his bid on a surplus auction lot, had no idea he had won the bid until later when the railroad yard had called him to tell him his three railcars full of war surplus electronic parts had arrived.. and he had no idea what to do with it..
