I found this interesting. KDHX in STL was run a bit old school where the DJ played whatever they wanted. You want a radio program? Become a volunteer and produce your own program. KDHX was a groovy STL station at 88.1 FM.
The station was supported by Ken Kranzberg, a billionaire, who was also a customer of mine in my café prior to 2022. Can't figure out how they became insolvent, but whatever. Jump forward, post covid and the breakdown of station integrity, etc., the bankruptcy court handed the license to a Christian radio outfit. They appear to have out bid everyone else. The Christian outfit offered a graceful olive branch saying they'll permit KDHX to continue status quo (of sorts) with their unique programming on an HD-2 streaming channel.
The streaming channel offer appears to have been rejected by the old crowd. They appear to be attempting set up a new community station independent of the Christian broadcaster approved by the bankruptcy court.

The "breakdown of station integrity" that resulted in the station being sold (by eliminating valid voters) in first article sounded shady to say the least, kind of disgusting really. But the second article was much more inspiring, and I particularly liked this following quote
"... “We remain committed to terrestrial FM radio because it provides the greatest access, exposure, and sound quality,” the group stated, noting that the medium remains a vital foundation for community-building despite the growth of digital platforms.
LOVE also signaled plans to explore internet-based and digital tools alongside their FM ambitions, but made clear that over-the-air broadcasting is the priority, citing overwhelming community support for a return to traditional radio. . "
