is there still any prototype Gittings / MLR part 15 am transmitter specimens still floating around? there were 2 or 3 that i was aware of. i have attached pics of the one i used to own.
I might be in the market (in maybe a few months from now) to acquire it if there is still one floating around. preferably working condition, non functioning but repairable is OK as well.
I am short on funds at the moment. i would swap some studio / maybe RF gear, though, if that interests you.
Thanks

Can't say I knew about them, I see it's briefly been discussed here 20 years ago and they were already no longer produced https://www.part15.org/community/temp/another-survey-how-far-does-your-part15-transmitter-reach/#post-7838
Appreciate you posting the pictures (what's the black box?). Never knew about it.
I was real curious about the Gittings Part 15 transmitters because I had never heard of them, so I tried searching for it but there's really no information out there. The only mentions found anywhere have been a few right here and at the Radio Discussions forum (maybe it had been discussed on HB before too, but we may never know!). One thing that does seem clear is the transmitters performance was spectacular!
From what little I've been able to gather, it's not a certified transmitter (not that it makes any difference), and that the transmitters had evidently only been built to order by a Jack Gittings. He offered both free-radiate and Carrier Current models. One post here from 2013 seems to suggest that there had only been 1 cc model made.
The earliest mention I found was in 2005 by Rev. Robert P. Chrysafis (that's who owns part15.org right?). Some one was asking for opinions about the LPB AM-2000, to which Robert suggested he'd be better off getting Gittings to custom build him one: https://radiodiscussions.com/threads/lpb-am-2000-transmitter.444709/ "You'd be better off asking Jack Gittings to build you one of his transmitters or get a Rangemaster"
Again in 2010 at https://radiodiscussions.com/threads/hamilton-rangemaster-final-rf-stage-efficiency.574009/ Dr_Johnnie_Fever said: "i have a transmitter that fits these spec's and was designed and built by Dr. Jack Gittings and although it is not certified i still keep it around because it was a great design."
Then in 2013: https://www.part15.org/community/temp/spitfire-am-transmitter/#post-27411 "My Gittings AM100 was the best antenna transmitter I ever had. I would give a body part to have mine back. The sound was clear, powerful, and you didn't miss much. It modulated to 110%, and it pushed so close to 100mW (it varied from 95ish to 103ish). The modulator control and gain were a seperate box in the studio.. and it was built like a bloody tank. Next was my custom Gittings Carrier Current and Coupler. Tube transmitter, loved the hum, the glow, the buzz, and hearing the programming coming out of the transmitter itself (you also get the cool programming audio artifact on the AMT-5000). It was sooooo clear and beautiful sounding. Nothing.. NOTHING beats tubes to my ears. Love the sound. The range is what you would expect from 6watts and no pole pigs. I pretty much covered about 50 acres with the carrier
To which someone responded: "And wow! I never before heard about the Gittings 6-Watt CC transmitter! Maybe one will turn up on the Bay. I'll jump at it!"
And his reply back seems to indicate that there had been only 1 CC model made.: "hope not - there was only 1 🙂"
Lastly, in 2017, someone named ke4mcl said: https://www.part15.org/community/transmitter-talk/looking-for-info-on-gittings-cc-transmitter/#post-4975 "i've owned this unit for almost 10 years now. it came from CA and was built by Jack Gittings. I'm guessing it was intended for carrier current. the transmitter is all homebuilt in a commercial aluminum enclusure. it uses a PLL unit shielded in an altoids tin. audio is provided via a car audio chip amp driving a large hammond transformer into a 6AQ5 tube. it came to me with an LPB carrier current tuner ... ... audio on this thing is simply amazing." .... The 5watt was a custom build.. I needed something, and Jack had spare bits lying around and cobbled a (REALLY) nice tx together for me. AFAIK, the 100mW is not being produced any longer.. and I personally do not have plans for either tx.. 🙁

You called it a "Gittings/MLR", what's the MLR? I hope you find one but it doesn't look promising to me. You might try contacting Gittings himself.
