OK, so my wife and I just got home from a trip to Oregon and Seattle- mountains, the Pacific, the best seafood anywhere…. but the whole time I was there I was checking out antenna installations.
Am I a GEEK or what?

Yes, you are – and so are we 🙂
Ever pointed a non-geek friend to this website? Ain’t the response wunnerful? “Uh, OK, it really looks nice, and stuff… seems like there’s a lot of visitors… uh, what, or, um, uh… what exactly is it about?”
Seattle is antenna installation paradise, when I lived there I had three scanners running in different spectrum segments and I barely touched on the traffic. Airports & military, police/fire/EMS, utilities and rail. A huge and nasty FM pirate crowd in the downtown and south end areas, too.
Portland has maybe 1/10th the activity and antenna density, but it’s still a blast.

Geeks have the passion.
For the past 40 years, I have been a radio geek; and dang proud of it. Along the way, I have earned a General Radio Telephone Operators License, an Amateur Extra Class License and a college degree in broadcasting.
In my opinion, people need to follow the fire. What that means is, people need to follow their heart and passion in life. Because of my passion for broadcasting and radio, I am never bored. I rise every day looking forward to the next challenge.
I teach radio and antenna theory at the college and for club meetings, volunteer to proctor FCC licensing exams, volunteer for local communcations projects and, of course, operate an internet radio station and Part 15 stations.
And yes, I too am on the look out for antenna installations no matter what type or variety. I love trying to figure out how they work. Learning from other folks who also have the passion for radio is just as much fun. That is one of the reasons Part15.us is such a great resource.
MY last word, keep on “geeking” and show some pride in doing it.
