I have always thought it would be neat to be an old time railroad switchman living on a salary way out in the country, with the job of switching the track at 5 PM so the evening express train can zoom by, then come back later and switch back to the regular traffic pattern. I could do that.
But not really. If it was me doing that job, there would be stacks of train wrecks all over the area, two or three a week.
Here I am admiring my new carrier current station with the belief that all the other stations are doing fine. But backing out of the driveway I could not get 1680 AM, the AMT5000 being fed audio from a Panasonic Tuner.
What I discovered is that this morning at sign on it sounded like the carrier for FM 107.1 wasn’t tuned in properly, listening to 1680, no audio was running. I tweaked what I thought was the FM carrier, and walked away.
I was re-broadcasting between-station FM junk, which masked very well as AM radio junk at 1680.
There were train cars piled everywhere, metaphorically speaking.
If you have a nursery full of babies, don’t pay attention only to the currently popular one. The other ones might escape.
