Even lazy minds look for something to do, and I decided to scan the FCC Enforcements for 2011 (to date) over at diymedia.net, looking only for AM enforcements. Not much to report.

A group of three transmitters in St. Paul, Minnesota were the target of two letters… two of them were under the care of one individual. Frequencies were 1620, 1630 & 1650. In each case they were measured above the 15.209 power limit and all of them had more length of antenna, lead and ground wire then the 3-meter limit under 15.219.
The only other postal NUOU went to Arizona City, Arizona for 1610 being measured over power with an 8-meter antenna.
I didn’t see any names from this board.

Probably Won’t

Curious…was there supposed to be any?
Well let me state for the record that my station passed two inspections, both the FM and AM and with the next inspection the LW station will be included…and I guarantee it will pass muster as well.
It is a simple matter of following the rules. The field agents do allow a little wiggle room, but not blatant violations like those you noted with the longer antennas and excess power levels.
Though in my opinion the power level limits are ridiculous, they are at those limits for a reason because not everyone diving into this hobby is going to take the time to make sure they do not cause interference…an over used, over exaggerated and abused word.
I challenge anyone to sift through those NOUO’s and find me ANY entry where a Part 15 station adhering to the rules got tagged for interference. Plenty of pirate operations and licensed services getting tagged..just look at that small list on the lower right of this site. Cable companies, cell phone companies, wireless network companies…seems quite clear who the violators are.
Licensed to violate. What a concept! Maybe a license will be created to allow bank robbery and corner store grab n runs.
Then again “S”elected leaders get thrown into power and is a normal thing so what’s the difference!

Exactly
It is always comforting to see, month by month and year by year, that legal part 15 stations are not being picked on. That was my main reason for posting the observations about the enforcements.
