The FCC Van is in my The FCC Van is in my neighborhood right now scanning for mics!

Ha! They’re probably scanning for your Part 15 operation!
But seriously, the microphone issue has been quite well publicized by manufacturers and dealers, so I would expect that most users have been aware of this for some months. And I do expect that there will be enforcement from the FCC.

Comment It is tough to believe that FCC inspectors have the time to scan for 700 MHz mics, what with all the donuts and coffee consumed. ‘Tell you what, we will all turn on all the old wireless mics we have at once and give them something to do. NOT!
Another example of our federal tax dollars at work. I feel stimulated. Don’t you?

Memory Maybe I think I recall that the wireless mics are being kicked out to make room for big power and money players, public safety and cell phones or secret business, or some such.
Where are the refundable vouchers to help pay for the expense?

Wireless 700 mHz mics on Public Safety frequencies Yes, currently our Public Safety radio system is being rebanded to the 700 mHz range. The rebanding will allow Cellular carriers to have a contiguous band of frequencies which I suppose aids there installations.
Leaving the wireless mics on 700 mHz could/would cause problems for Police, Fire and other Public Safety agencies.
The Cellular carrier is paying for this nationwide rebanding project which includes replacing Public Safety radios which can’t be rebanded.

It’s true! On another website, and about another subject, wdcx assured me that he never lies. I actually never thought that that he lies, but I DID think that he sometimes made statements not in accord with the facts in order to be humorous. Having been corrected, I assume that it is true that an FCC van was going down his street and doing exactly what he said it was doing.

It also will remove and prevent interference. It turns out that Public Safety and private Cell carriers have such a different mission that they cannot coexist in the same frequency area. The receiver de-sense that occurs near cell sites immobilizes the Public safety radios. And it is a problem with all manufacturers and all over the country.
The cell sites already have the ability to change frequencies turn on or off some “channels” due to need or what ever. Public safety normally uses dedicated sites and channels that reach a wider area, (generally, I speak here.) Big bucks are being spent by the players, it is in their interest to do so and not interfere with the Police and Firemen and others who use the public safety systems, many lawyers are making money on this issue. I don’t want to say much more, but also know that the system manufacturers are racking it in with this re-banding project thing.
