There has been no one on duty at KDX Worldround Radio over the last few months. In fact, since the wars have been going on I have stepped away and stopped scheduling all of my usual programs, airing only continuous reporting from Al Jazeera's 24-hour news channel, which I also tend to ignore while spending whole days watching free crime movies or videos about modern-day hobos sneaking aboard coast-to-coast freight trains and other railfans sharing their roomettes aboard Amtrak trains.
Like everyone else, except those actually conducting war, I prefer to carry on as if things won't escalate into nuclear oblivion. This, I think, is because there is nothing either I nor KDX could possibly do to reduce the peril casting its shadow on future prospects.
Except today. I've been "tuned in", so to speak, and catching up with some of our regular KDX programs to see what other radio producers are saying. It seems like a contest for the White House is heating up with a lot of questions over who will rule the Nation, and no clearcut answers.
What am I learning? Maybe this... the difficulties being faced aren't getting solved. We seem to be on a conveyor belt pushing everyone into a traffic-jammed grid-locked crowd. Still, if I can break away again through avoidance and trusting that the internet remains up and operating, maybe there will be enough train games, crime movies and snack food to smooth our safe passage. Part 15 power levels are good enough.
Hours later I am reading what I said, and think maybe I have a case of the low power blues. It is no doubt that helpless humble feeling of knowing that Part 15 radio stations aren't going to save mankind by restoring world peace. But there's a fresh idea... I should broadcast creative commons royalty free blues music. And so the search is on!
Ken Nordine understands exactly what kind of blues I am talking about
