Hi guys. Are there any Part 15 Stations out there with web cams inside the studio? If there is, I would like very much to check them out.

Hi WillyJ:

Our pal Atrain Radio has a webcam that comes up on U-Stream, he calls his station "Free Radio for the Free Thinker" (I hope I got that right).

If you check back I'll try to find his IP address.

I seriously want to have a webcam (kdxradio(dot)com) but I don't want to show myself because I'd have to remember to comb my hair and tie my shoes, so I've thought about showing a model train-in-motion or the bird bath or the street or close-ups of the equipment... I probably will do it eventually.

I have the equipment in place to do this now.  But do I want to?  Not really.  I am dressed when I come to the studio, it is in my regular office.. a public place (I get dressed to go there).  But, I couldn't scratch, and I would have to clean my desk off.  And on rare occasion, I fall asleep.

Of course, it might increase viewers...listeners?

In the 60s a Balaban rock station at 1430 AM was run by a notoriously strict boss.

One day he had a camera installed showing the DJ at work, seen on a monitor in the bosses office.

One DJ didn't like it so he used an idea from the Johnny Carsen Show on NBC-TV... he made a sign that said, "MORE TO COME", and stuck it in front of the cam.

The only reason the DJ kept his job was because he wa #1 in ratings.

I like the studio.  And I could tell it was live... I think I could see the LED bars flashing on the DB meters.

My studio is much less attractive, yet it works for now.

I could run a web cam but there is nothing really worth seeing in my studio just a computer mixer with microphone and a lot of vinly records.  Another reason with I do not run a web cam is my upload speed to slow to run a online shoutcast stream and a web cam.

I had a webcam set up before the catastrophic failure of Windows 7 and the server running on that machine. It will return though, but i am considering cleaning up my messy studio desk and aim the camera down towards the top of the desk. I really don't want to be on camera myself but if some one happens to see me i suggest they take a screen shot and if they have trouble with mice in the winter they can use my image to scare them away and probably the in-laws as well lol

Linux-Ubuntu is a bit tricky when it comes to setting up streaming webcams, there isn't a lot of software out there that streams to an ip address but there is websites like Ustream, justin.tv, earthcam etc that I believe work well on all platforms.

I'll look into it when things calm down around here.
