My good friend at OPALCO says they ground out their neutral lines about every other pole, and all the buildings in town ... which are what I was hoping to reach inside, because the stick antenna encounters too much interference trying to get through walls.

Is there no hope?

The ground points along the paths of the grid at MW frequencies acts more like stand off isolators, though a small amount of that signal does go down the ground lead on the poles. But this does not affect the overall performance because we are not connecting our coupler return path directly to those points at the pole/s. The coupler return path is provided through an isolated ground system that you create which has no direct connection to the grounds on the poles.

In all practicality, those ground leads on the poles actually help our overall goal and provide a means to complete the RF circuit path.

In my tests and observations, those power pole ground leads have such little effect on the overall performance that it can be ignored.
