According to incoming reports from Tha Dood, 1620 AM in Poca, West Virginia, the worst solar flare of the year took place yesterday, April 11, 2013. This video was submitted to the Low Power In the News Room

The coronal mass ejection from the sun

ia coming toward the Earth and will get

here around April 17 or 18, I think.

This proton/electron/magnetic mess

is not as big as some that have gotten

here.  I bet it won't do much.  But I

would be very interested  in being

proven wrong.

The radio blackouts that happen when

these things hit can sometimes be fun if you are

listening to the AM or SW bands.  Sometimes

stations you normally hear will disappear and

others that are rarely heard will be present

instead.

Carl, what is your KDX emergency plan

for this kind of situation?

When the big wad of EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulsation) from the sun comes storming into the toolshed, wiping out years of low power archives and causing antenna melt, I intend chosing a scapegoat to blame it on. I'm going to blame it on Microsoft.

An older plan that failed was to blame it on living in sin, but I think it was unfair to sin, which is often the most fun you'll ever have.
