looking for some advice and links for free software or at least affordable , that will allow me to automate my station easily.
Playing music, schedule i.d.'s at the top of the hour and announce weather and time in between the music and other programming.

I have downloaded a few programs and found one but just as i was going to try the software out, my dell did a 360 degree turn for the worst and crashed not im not sure what programs i had downloaded.

Any help would be awesome, until then keep rockin'.

I use Zararadio. I have used SAM2 in the past and prefer Zara because at least on my system it's quite stable. If you're looking for something that works decent that's actually free, Zararadio is def at least worth a try.

I've been using ZaraRadio ver 1.4 for quite some time with no trouble. I run it on my Part 15 station and also use it at work for the City's Advisory Radio system and for music-on-hold on two PBX telephone systems. It runs 24/7 and has never crashed.

I use version 1.4 on my Part 15 as it will work with plug-ins. The newer version 1.6 has some nifty new features but no plug-ins allowed. Most resort to ourtboard processing which works quite well but more costly. The reason some don't like version 1.4 with plug-ins is a problem with overlapping audio files. It causes an annoying clicking sound. So, I don't overlap files.

You can download version 1.4 files from my MRAM WEBPAGE. And, a link to the newer version 1.6 is also found there. Look for the ZaraRadio button. The popular plug-in "Sound Solution" is also found there.

Plug-ins take a lot of horespower so a faster computer is advisable. ZaraRadio by itself will run on older P1's at 200 mHz quite well.
