This can be viewed two ways: one is that IBOC will interfere with part 15 AM, and the other and probably more serious aspect is that part 15 will interfere with local IBOC transmissions. How is one to know if one is causing interference to IBOC stations especially if, as is my situation, one does not have a IBOC receiver?

The big problem with IBOC is that it will take a lot more of the band away, specifically one channel above and below their main carrier. And digital travels far at night, this is where the licensed guys are going to be fighting each other, then add in the part15 crowd.... You really need to stay as far away from any large station as possible. The REC net LPAM frequency selector could be helpful in determining the channel that you operate with. If you go with a channel that is "good" for a 100 watt LPAM, then there should be little problem from you part 15, except at night and then I expect the distant signal to pretty much crush the part 15 signal anyway.
What it really comes down to is shut down or change channel as soon as the FCC comes calling. As long as you aren't trying to hide anything, and are polite and do as they request, I can't see any harm to them knocking on the door (other than having to shut down which certainly stinks).
