25-feet is a workable distance from a building for low power AM, but would it be the same for higher powers?

I assume the building in Dade City is a one-story low-set structure.

"an AM broadcast station tower located within about 50 feet of its studio/transmitter building"

Getting back with a reality check...that arrangement is akin to an ant versus an 18 wheeler truck..the tower being the truck. Is one to expect that truck to be stopped by the little ant?

That building isn't going to have much stopping power against that signal from that tower.

Anyone remember the WBAP setup as pictured in the old Radio Shack AM Broadcast Transmitter kit's booklet?

That tower was less than 5 feet from the studio/office building!

Now, replace that building in the link and the one in the RS transmitter kit's booklet with a skyscraper or other tall building and then you got something to discuss. :/
