Dust off your favorite Longwave receiver or communications receiver etc and tune into 486 KHz for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day special broadcast from WG2XFQ Brian Justin.
I am tuned in now on two radio's, the Websdr from Twente University and a Grundig G3 here on the desk in front of me. The websdr has a weak but just barely audible copy, the G3 not so much. But i will keep trying.
I don't recognize the name of that university.
I wanted to monitor here in CT but came back
from Christmas festivities too late.
I will try again on New Years Eve.
The receiver here is a Sony ICF-2010.
I will report here if I hear it.
Best wishes and thanks for the heads up.

I regret not seeing this in time... I have one of those Sangean Radio Shack clones and have been getting occasional LW, oddly enough, via my 40m receive antenna. The manual indicates it uses the internal coil for LW, but I suppose the 30+ foot antenna gathers enough signal it come in and hops over to the coil from the SW circuitry. Conveniently enoug, with just enough attenuation. I heard my first long route / short route echos circling the globe, at one point momentarily hearing 3 of total each spoken word (one coming all the way round again -- a loud word, a soft echo, and a softer one after the longest wait), approx 3/4-second-type delays if I were to guess. The single echo lasted for a minute or so. The overall signal lasted an hour. Sounded like African language but I am not sure (?). Anyway this is quite exciting. Now, another thing I heard was a regular radio station a few states away but I assumed that was either 1) my filters not working well or 2) they had no high pass filter on their station and I was hearing lower freq. harmonic ? Anyway, maybe you'll fire up tomorrow, too? 🙂
Too weak for modulation.
Right now it is 02:24 EST local time here in
Hartford, CT. From the bits and pieces I
have read on the net - he is supposed to
be on all night long through New Years Day
2017. If I am correct about this, then there is
a good chance the carrier at least is getting to
my set-up. As I am typing this -
the 2017 New Year is about
2 hours and 30 minutes old here in CT. Also,
my info says he is in Virginia - not too far from here.
More details to follow.
Best Wishes To All

Missed this altogether.
Propagation was not in my favor despite using a longwire with a Grundig G3 and being close to Virginia, something was in there on the Chilton online shortwave radio but despite changing setting on that receiver, it wasn't meant to be.
Eh, maybe next year.
