Howdy,

Sorry I haven't been too active here, but I've ben busy with the move and Live HS Basketball. Just got back from Seattle about 1/2 hour ago. Been on it since 7:00am PST, very tired.

I thought y'all might want to take a listen sometime, check out the FB page. I produce/engineer plus commercials, but I have 2 announcers, one is the regular announcer for home games ... last year on live by himself (mostly) for away games... he was burning out, calling descriptive play-by-play for entire games non-stop except for 1/4 breaks (does half time show too) and time-outs.

This year we have a student who can't yet play due to injury sustained in end of summer exhibition game. He's amazing, enthusiastic, knows all the players well, including the girls teams and JV teams, does near perfect descriptive play-by-play, anticipates plays and fouls on the fly, loves it all. It's great to have students involved, don't know of anyone else (at least here in the Northwest) that does this, including the sports mega-stations. 'Course, he'd still rather be playing, so I'll lose him in the fall (he hopes to be able to play football). Hope someone else comes along, although not at the cost of injuries.

Y'never know...someday some of them, even if they don't play professionally, could end up in on-air sports journalism...some of those guys pull down 6 figures/year.

Hope to have the Part 15 station back up this week, hampered by "bad" weather (hey...it's the Northwest). May try a cage monopole. Have to find a way to keep the TX dry and warm enough. I'm at a higher elevation, but the ocean ground counterpoise is no more.

The Shadow running now...

Hi Ken, appreciate the update and look forward to the resumption of your broadcast schedule.

I guess you'll have to rename a few things, like "Friday Harbor Tiny Radio" and "The Friday Harbor Walkie Talkie Show."

The ocean ground was wonderful to read about, too bad you had to leave it behind.

We'll be back to sports in a moment, first this, about a man who lived in a bunker for 14-years:

Returning to sports... hey, has anyone ever used a part 15 sports station as a paid feeder to major sports networks? Not so far fetched, if you think about it.

Why don't you hear bowling on the radio?

When I heard that the Super Bowl would be on I got very excited.

But they filled the time with a football game.

What a gyp.

Here in the NorthWest...even most bowlers were practicing 12th man participation...wearing Seahawk apparel and yelling loud enough to be heard in New York! Must've worked 😉

On super bowl sunday the tempterature here was about 4, but I saw a lot of middle aged guys walking around outside with light indoor clothes. Was that some kind of game thing, or maybe just the beer?
