Automation systems

What sort of automation system is everyone using? What experience are you having?

East Hill Radio is using SAM2, largely because it was reasonable in price and can handle events and scheduling. I'm still struggling to get my air sound "tight", but 2.8.1 is better than 2.7.9 in that respect.

K-Jazz uses OTSDJ, but without the scheduler. The program works great and has segues that are tight. I'm waiting for the scheduler to go on sale again.

I'm switching from SAM2 to DirEttore - This has scheduling, jingle rotation, and it's just easy to use.

I don't know how stable it is - I have not tested it at any length - but i'll let you guys know.

If winamp didnt chocke on "not quite perfect" mp3's, I'd probably use that with Winamp Radio Scheduler..

The demo has a bug in the time announce, but it's stable otherwise. I might try it, too. I really like OTSDJ, but will have to wait until I can afford the scheduler.

On the demo version I ran, if the automation played a time announcement, a spot or a sweeper, then another time announcement, the system would lock up. The reply I got was that it's a known bug and was fixed in the final release.

ahh.. ok.. supposedly he will give the "final release" to those who test it for him - I told him I'd promote it and put it up on the www.mantecaradio.com site as well..

I've got my fingers crossed.

* What version were you running? I want to make sure I got the updated one 🙂

I'm a "newbie" to this whole Part 15 thing but here's what I've got running right now. Winamp 2.8.1 and Winamp Radio Scheduler ver.2.0.5. I am also using the Shoutcast DSP plugin for Winamp to provide a stream connection on my website. It's not super tight all the time, but I can't complain...They're all "free" applications. I am using the SStran AMT-3000 transmitter. What a great little transmitter. So far, I'm quite pleased with the setup.

well - i got the full release of the direttore - wow. This is cool.

Now.. I would like to play with wrs, but i havent the patience to figure out how to make it do all the stuff i want it to do.. direttore is just really simple.

I play with my puter h4x0r friends all day at work (at least thats how one jerky board moderator puts it), so I really dont want to mess with this stuff too much at home 🙂

I'm using Winamp and WRS.

I'd like to try DirEttore sometime but I don't want it enough to fill out these long essays they require. 😀
