I believe it has to do with spam control. New users need to have their first post(s) approved until they prove that they're legitimate.  But I'm not sure that you should even see the post until that approval is given.  I'll follow up with Neil on it.

I can't see it either, and I've been on here three years posting like a maniac.  Gotta be a glitch in somethin'.

When a new user joins and posts their post is automatically marked as "not published" which holds the post until a moderator can review it for being appropriate and, if it is, publish it.  This is the situation regarding the linked  post and it has been published so all can now view it.

The system requires a certain number of posts by a new user before the posts will be published automatically but if the poster appears to be legitimate then their status can be changed manually to allow unfiltered posts..  This is only one of the protections used to keep spammers from posting here.  Sometimes even posts from long time members get flagged and not immediately published.

In most cases, unpublished posts will not be listed on the front page until they are published but the way the system housekeeping works it sometimes gets things out of time sync and the title appears before it is published which appears to be lthe case with this post.

Posts by spammers range from up to ten a day to none and it is very rare that they get through the filters and the spam posts appear.  The filters which sometimes interfere with members posts are the cost of doing business to keep unwanted junk off this site.  I hope all will understand and agree that this is necessary.

Neil

Not to feel special here, but unless something was fixed since the last post was posted here in this topic, I can see that other post with no problem.

Bruce.

The post was published just before I posted above so I am pleased that the "problem" was solved according to Mr. Bruce's posts.

If you see some anomoly such as this don't be shy about using the "CONTACT" button under NAVIGATION to let us know about it.
