I'm going to suggest to a village historical society about setting up a part15 station for the village. Since most TIS type stations suck I want this one to be different, something useful. The entire history of the village played over the transmitter. The village was founded during the 1600s. It was at one time an important place , and the historical society is looking for ways to promote the village and its history. A quarter mile range of solid coverage would be perfect. Setting up a station would really help their cause , plenty of tourists most of the year .
I've often thought of something like that for where I live. We have a museum (two buildings, actually) dedicated to the past.
The idea I had was to play vintage programming from a given period. Old time radio, acoustic era music , etc. For your village with its kind of history, you could have vignettes describing past events as well. Sort of like a customized version of The Rest of the Story.
One big advantage is that pretty much everything broadcast would be in the public domain. Currently, anything 1923 and earlier is already there, and add a year at the end of this one. A lot of old time radio is in the public domain as well.
The biggest thing about something like this is letting people know its there. Much like for our stations.
@artisan-radio I'll let them know that I'm willing to help set the transmitter and station up , provided that it's not a typical a TIS station wasting air space . If done right it can be very useful and a signs can be put up at each end of the village to alert people of the station.
