We've lost count of how many years KDX has simulcast the New Orleans Jazz Festival from WWOZ but I guess it's been about ten years. Check it out.
Day 2 of the New Orleans Jazz Fest is coming to a close.
A lightning storm is nipping at our outskirts so we will shut down until Saturday morning when Day3 of the Fest will start.
Amid the fun our computer monitor has again begun strange scanning and streaking on the lower 1" of its screen, so we'll need to consider how to manage the situation.
Don't be a stranger but also keep your distance.
Now in Day 3 of the New Orleans Jazz Festival over 20 radio stations are connected to WWOZ for the annual simulcast. While some of the middle-American states hunker under the threat of violent weather, conditions are fine down at the mouth of the Mississippi and here in the Mid-Mississippi Valley.
One thing that keeps me highly impressed by the engineering team at WWOZ is the absolute perfection of their micing (microphoning) and recording skills. It is not easy to capture flawless recordings when multiple musicians perform together (ensemble), something most radio stations never attempt. And WWOZ has numerous recording kits capturing multiple performances in tents and performing stages throughout the Festival grounds.
WWOZ is the epitome of what a radio station can be, dedicated as it is to the exposition and preservation of the jazz heritage of New Orleans.
Day 4 of the Jazz Fest is streaming around the United States from WWOZ in New Orleans, and I heard the hosts say that their Recording Trucks are set up all over the fairgrounds. Does your radio station have a sound truck?
Today's Fest will wrap up at 8 PM EDT and will resume again on Thursday May 2 following a three day break. Those 'days off' KDX will carry regular programming.
While all this pleasantry and good times carry on there are several mid-western states reeling from violent weather which continues in the forecasts.
And during our revelry this Part15org website has been down a few times with 'Bad Gateway' trouble. Webmaster Artisan Radio has been getting it restarted.
Thursday morning May 2 at 12 NOON Eastern the New Orleans Jazz Festival comes back for another four days. The Festival, carried on KDX and over 20 other stations, will close 2-hours early on Thursday only, because the final act of the day is the Rolling Stones, but WWOZ does not have clearance to simulcast their music. Imagine having so much fun while the world experiences dangerous events of all kinds.
4:10 in the afternoon in the Central Time Zone, the Jazz Fest from WWOZ is streaming its way into our Mid-MississippI River Valley transmission complex, and we are pushing the way through an electric storm.
