Posting this only because it seems to relate, or rather compare directly to the situation at hand here at part15.org.

Editor-in-chief of America’s oldest magazine resigns after calling Trump voters fascists

New YorkCNN — (excerpts)

Laura Helmuth is resigning as editor-in-chief of Scientific American magazine following an expletive-filled rant about Donald Trump voters..

In a series of now-deleted posts on the same platform, she called Trump voters the “meanest, dumbest, most bigoted” group and “fascists” following the former president’s reelection last week. Her comments went viral on X..

Helmuth had apologized in a separate post, calling them “offensive and inappropriate” and that they don’t “reflect the position” of Scientific American... "These posts, which I have deleted,..were a mistaken expression of shock and confusion about the election results.” .. it was Helmuth’s decision to leave and a search for her replacement is underway..

Agree with Rich. A good comparison.

And I would add...

Don't start a second bottle of wine as you type on the keyboard.

@richardpowers  I wasn't aiming to be cryptic. I only see that Laura Helmuth typed and posted some words that came back to bite her and it painted the picture in my head that she was 'under the influence' and not thinking clearly when she hit the 'send' key.

Further... the Laura Helmuth resignation has one thing in common with Artisan's withdrawal, and one thing not in common:

IN COMMON: They both resigned from their positions.

NOT IN COMMON: Ms. Helmuth put her employer (the science magazine) in a bad light by her comments, but Artisan had a logical reason for quitting and was an asset to part15org.

@carl-blare In common that Artisian stepped out saying that he didn't want to reflect badly on the forum. No, he never ranted anything negative here.

As for the wine, you know me too well (but its seldom wine), but in this case drink wasn't in play.
