As you all know, or can know know by reading his blog, Artisan has chosen to relinquish admin duties and forum participation and his blog is self explanatory as to why. Me, while I understand how Artisan feels about the USA election and I am disappointed at the results also, my feelings are that this is a hobby forum, is universal, and is separate from who got elected in the USA. This forum welcomes all and the hobby is much the same in Canada as the USA. I enjoy connecting with others that do this hobby whether in Canada the USA or wherever. There is no border between us.
It's not called Part 15 here and a few rules are a little different but similar in both countries.
I am still moderator as before.
I could agree more. I too am disappointed by David's decision. I continue to hope his frustration will fade and he will resume his participation here. He's always been a valuable contributor here - as I have already expressed to him personally, and I would hate to think that he's not coming back.
Though I have full respect for him, I do not agree that the state of current political matters is a reasonable cause to exit this community, because theres no connection. It has absolutely no bearing.
Come back Artisian.
My position is that we should regard Artisan as the ongoing administrator awaiting his hopeful return.
Meantime I move that mark serve as Acting Administrator until Artisan returns.
I second that motion
@carl-blare I am not administrator, just moderator as before. John Paul is the forum owner and admin now that Artisan has resigned.
Admin is a job that I can't take on. I don't have the computer know how, I don't know how to run a forum or be the CEO so to speak. I just make sure the forum runs reasonably in the guidelines and rules that is set out by admin, not me. But current forum rules are as Artisan made them that hasn't changed. So he is admin in spirit.
Well... I'm sorry but I do not accept his registration, he has a responsibility to fulfill his obligations here. He probably got drunk and is on a bender. He'll be back when he sobers up.
Seriously Artisian, it's just a thing. Relax, kick back, let the frustration and irritation run its course, and then come back when the worst of it is over, and return to duty. It's all good. Everything waiting just as you left it, and we all want you back.
I don't know what the election has to do with this non political forum. I don't know where his blog is so I haven't seen it. No matter who became president as the result of the election I don't get the connection to what we do here. There are lots of people who aren't happy with the way the election went, as there are lots of people who are. Again I don't know what that has to do with this? I hope he rethinks this and returns to the forum, which is non political...
If anyone who a link to his blog, I would like to read it...
@Mark This morning I was going call upon Moderator Mark to make an Acceptance Speech acknowledging an appointment as Acting Administrator, however I see that Mark has already stated his position and I respect it and consider it to be sound and reasonable.
In favor of all participants in this Forum we seem to share a unified point of view with no opposition. That speaks well of the membership of Part15org.
Although I haven't been a member here for long, and don't participate a lot, I'd like to agree with everyone here who has expressed disappointment that Artisan would give up his admin duties here because of an election result. When interacting with people from other countries, I draw a very sharp distinction between the government of a country and the individuals in it. Whether I agree with a government's politics and policies or not, is immaterial to my interactions with the residents of that country. It is undeniable how divided politics in the US has become though, and that Artisan would be thinking like this is an indication of these deep divisions.
To me, discussions of power output, ground leads, antenna efficiencies, programming, audio processing, and low power unlicensed broadcasting in general, are a completely different subject from politics. Completely.
On the other hand, I've seen some quite contentious arguments about the ground lead issue on other forums that were almost as divisive as our current political climate. Perhaps I need to rethink what I just said! 😆 😆 😆
@rugster
Yes we all shared our thoughts about Artisan and the election result but he feels the way he does so be it. He is the one that rejuvenated the forum from near death.
Those ground lead debates go on and on. Similar to the ground lead debate there's the debate in Canada about broadcasting and nonbroadcasting, as is our crazy rules. That could go on and on also.
@mark Aaah yes, the distinction between broadcasting and non-broadcasting. I only recently learned about that particular quirk of the Canadian regulations. Let's face it; if it wasn't for that, and the US ground lead issue, we'd have less to talk about!
Well as far as I'm concerned it's too soon to call. Though I've conversed with him a few times since he left, he has not replied to my last email two or three days ago, but I just take that to mean he's mulling things over. Who knows, he might step back in tomorrow and say; ok, let's get past this.
If he don't.. then he dont. But if it's in the stars he will.
