Please be concerned because even our 10-foot towers might be directly in the flight path to the birdbath.
Yet, I would be more concerned about wind-power generators whirling up where birds can’t see spinning-blades in high wind.
Safety Plan: we should paint and light our towers with those colors most visible to birds. Does anybody know what those colors are?

Birds See Color
Carl,
In response to your query, I have learned something new about birds. It is fundamentally found here in the link below:

The next question which begs an answer, How does Santa Claus miss a collision with all those towers with eight tiny reindeer and an old not-so-fuel-efficient sleigh? And, How does Santa always see if you’ve been bad or good? Inquiring minds want to know.

To keep horses from running into the towers, paint towers blue.
A new study (probably Federally funded) determined that a horses vision is very sensistive to blue.

Now come on folks,I have worked on and around hundreds of towers from 1400 foot on down and have never seen any evidence of dead birds. They usually sit on the tower and sometimes nest in them. If birds are flying into a tower and killing themselves, they are sick, blind and fulfilling the natural selection process. Horses and reindeer, come on! What are you guys smokin?

Bats!!
Well, I once saw a bat caught in a fence around the base of a transmitting tower … does that count? 😀

Bats-II!!!
I saw a mother in-law caught in a hair net. I could only imagine my wife (at the time) would be just like that in 20 years. OMG. LOL!!!

Scientific Recovery
Science could explain the bat. With their ultra-keen hearing it is conceivable the bat was hearing the 1.6kHz (or whatever) output from the micro-transmitter and picked up a reflection off the fence that seemed just like a tasty insect.
The hairnet might have been conductive and your motherinlaw was driven insane by cell-phone microwaves.
There’s more science going on than we know about.

Carl, there is more science going on than we know or recognize. With the extensive use of the Hooka we have explored the far reaches of space without leaving the farm. Of course, the little animals don’t appreciate being chased and called aliens. And yes, we think the disappearing ray guns are real. ‘Sounds like one too many visits to the local Medical Ganga Festival, eh? Maybe you could call your station, “Bud Radio”.
And old ex-mother-in-law’s are just another specie of bat, with all or part of their radar disabled. The cell phone was stuck in her daughter’s ear. Insanity runs in her side of the family. The hair net was part of the “mother-in-law” disguise. A side note: I keep hoping she will find an un-painted or lighted tower to run into. (Not really.)

True About Horses
Well anyway, it’s true about horses. I’ve never seen horses near my tower and now I know that’s because it’s not blue.
