Hi Guys Sorry i’m not on much been busy antenna construction and manuals etc.
Let me tell you about the antenna i built and used.
I will not Disclose to much do to i’m still making update to the antenna.
EQUIPMENT USED:
1) Talking House 5.0 with original power supply.
2) 25 feet of RG6u cable loss loss. ( I found using any more length loss was more noticeable)
3) Talking Sign Atu ( Fcc Approved )
4) Antenna Is aprox 6 foot in length. ( This Is all i disclose at this time ).
5) NOTE: NO COMPRESSOR OR LIMITER WAS USED IN TEST !!!!
SETUP:
1) Talking House 5.0 TX was in garage, 3 feet 8 inches from floor to bottom of tx in a single level home.
2) ATU & ANT Was placed 15 feet and 8 inches away from the house in a east direction.
3) ATU Was mounted 5 feet 3 inches from ground and meter faced north.
4) ANTENNA Was mounted 6 feet of ground. ( Ground to bottom of ant element ).
5) Attached 75 ohm cable to TX Then placed cable 5 feet 3 inches off ground and ran in a horzontial position to the ATU unit.
6) REPEAT NO EXTRA GROUND WAS ADDED !!!!
Just antenna & power supply Ground that came with the talking house 5.0 transmitter!!!
RANGE:
1) Truck Radio Used PANASONIC DP22
2) My North and west where my better range. 4 miles good, 4.6 mile fringed.
3) My east and south was not to hot. 1/2 mile good, up to 1 mile very spotty.
When i drove out north i put my radio audio volume on 20 i only really had 1 complete small drop out ( 2 feet ),But the rest was a good signal.
To give you an idea on what my signal was take a commercial 1,000 watt am station about 40 mile from you that’s what my signal sound like at 2 mile and even at 4 miles away on a car radio.
I will reply to your questions,But please give me time i’m a busy person at this time.
If You would like more information you can find me at the ALPB meeting and you can always ask me question there.
ALPB Meeting 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month at 8pm eastern time.

Hi Guys:
lets talk about various radio receivers to help are listeners pick up are part 15 station up better on various frequency we transmit on and also let are listeners what to purchase.
And also let manafactures know how to build better radios for the part 15 and ham operators.
There are so many different manafacture and models out there,Who is really good ?,And i know we can’t talk about all of them do to there is to many of them.
1) Frequency coverage.
2) Sensitivity.
3) Features / Functions
4) Prices.
1) Frequency Coverage: I see is that all radio should have standard full band coverage band and NOT missing frequency range.( 100khz to 30Mhz or up to 500Mhz) let the operator choose what he wants.
2) Sensitivity: Make it very sensitive and equal to all bands. NOTE: If use for camping purpose.
3) Features / Functions: Rf gain adjustment for all bands, DB signal meter, SN signal meter ( signal to noise ) and a analog style meter for s signal up to a 60 db level and make meter so they function smooth NOT jurkey. Am antenna should be very sensitive to dx station a rotating unit on top of radio, Also i notice that radio should be complete with am,am stereo,fm,fm stereo LSB,USB. Make radio have dual speakers as well, Make unit have crank up power, solar power, battery power so if you go camping, Make LW & SW To receive c-quam stereo signal.Jack ports for outdoor antenna hookup for all bands. Need to have a digital noise cancelling control feature as well. Use digital control instead of old analog control due to dirt. Make unit to be more weather resistance as well.
4) Prices: I also notice when manafuctures do a small upgrade on radios they charge you and arm and a leg and most of the time the upgrade did more harm then good on the radio and by the time you find out about the radio issue it’s to late except try to sell it.
The way things are they can make a very nice radio for it’s cost and sell to the consumer for a very reasonable price and not kill the consumer do to the manafacture people are consumer as well.
Here are some old analog great radios !
I own a General Electric 3-5280B great radio, still have it.
General Electric superturner radio II 7-2885F is a great radio.
It would be nice if these GE radio 3-5280B & 7-2885F where am & fm stereo both have great audio quality !!!!!!
National panasonic DR-49 is a great radio, still have. I saw it out beat the grundig S450DLX.
Nova tech Radio still have, Good radio.
I also have technics as well good radio, still have 3 units.
Here are some radio we should talk about
Fisher, General Electric, Grundig (eton ) Jvc, Kenwood, National Panasonic, Onkyo, Panasonic, Radio Shack, Sangean ATS-909X, Sony, Tecsun PL 660, PL 880, S-2000, Technics, Others.
Radio i want to purchase, How you guys like these units !
I’m looking at getting the Tecsun PL-880 And the S-2000 what do you think of these radios.
Radio issues i had :
When i purchased the Grundig S450DLX field radio i was having some noise in the controls due to dirt so i took it apart and this is what i found wrong with mine it’s had solder ball splashes on board as well as white residue on board as well as flux residue, board was sprayed with a comformal coating with this issue in place, also found alot of slop in both of the control switches setting due to the set up and can’t tighten up with out modification. The volume, bass, treble,rf control can get dirty easy mine did. The tunning dial is the only control that’s sealed,But they should use felt to use between the dial and housing, Plus the dial tunning is stiff. Field radio is not sealed for weather not good.
I found out that the Grundig G8 traveller II radio has a good db meter that FCC like on it to use to test your am signal out.
This is allot to take in but is a good subject to talk about and i could not find anywhere on this site where it was talked about unless i missed it.
